Short deadlines are common-place in the design world. So to ensure that our students can handle the pressure, we collaborate with Standard Bank on a 48-hour project, where the skills of both our Graphic Design and Ideation students are put to the test - never failing to amaze!

A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video a thousand pictures.

We collaborate continuously with Brand Republic, a professional recording, video and film production company to record content for Inscape students to enjoy through our InConnect and Offsite platforms.

TSSA - Online Teachers Conference, Promoting Thinking in Schools 2015, 2016, 2017

As a private higher education institution, Inscape shows interest in the development and progression of primary and secondary learning environments. Inscape acknowledges that the foundational learning of their applicants is paramount to ensure success at a tertiary level. What we and future employers are looking for, are young people who are ready to create and take on the opportunities presented by a rapidly changing world.

TSSA’s vision to develop a culture of explicit thinking so that students and teachers learn how to learn more effectively is what attracted Inscape to the organization.

At Inscape, we practice application of knowledge and skills in our approach to creative learning. Our curriculum is project based. Opportunistic and intentional experiential learning are facilitated through national projects that expose our students to independent critical thinking and creative problem solving. Industry engagements are encouraged and integrated into programme outcomes.

Supporting TSSA’s objective to develop critical and collaborative thinking skills; improving engagement and student ownership of the learning process; as well as academic results across the curriculum, including Maths, Science and English ensures the stated objective of the national CAPS and other curricula taught in South Africa by private and international schools, and speaks directly to the type of student Inscape seeks to enrol.

It has been a privilege for Inscape to provide support to TSSA and its associated schools to ensure students become passionate, practiced and resourceful thinkers and problem-solvers who will perform better at school and in tertiary life.

 HOW DOES INSCAPE SUPPORT TSSA?

Inscape has supported TSSA consistently since 2013 in the following ways:

  • Contributions in various ways at TSSA conferences, assisting the organisation to continue growing to the point where TSSA now reaches 2,000 educators face-to-face per year, from the top-performing schools in South Africa to those in economically challenging environments.
  • Over the last two years, Inscape has made a significant financial contribution to TSSA making it possible to develop Thinking Schools clusters in Ladysmith, incorporating Hamilton Prep as the lead school supporting Andante Primary and Harvest High Schools.
  • Inanda Township, starting with Roselands Primary School, and being extended to include Inanda Seminary Internships which support a range of schools in the area.
  • Being able to develop materials used in the Jika iMfundo project reaching 500 teachers in under-performing districts.

Together, we are investing in a thinking generation that will change our world for the better!

Thru the Chair aims to reinvent 1000 chairs through a storytelling process. Each chair is adapted to convey a message determined by the chair’s designer. Each reinvented chair will be auctioned to Chairmen of Boards at a Chairmen’s dinner annually. The funds collected by the initiative will be donated to sustainable projects that are focused on education in Africa. Inscape students took part in this initiative in 2018 and have to date reinvented 250 chairs eligible to be auctioned.
