Course overview
Are you an innovator and creative problem solver? Do you enjoy brainstorming and prototyping?
Learn the principles and techniques of identifying and solving complex problems with the Bachelor of Design Specialising in Ideation. Research, critical analysis, design models, and creative and design thinking techniques are practised through the design thinking process. Students are encouraged to play a role in multidisciplinary teams using ideation to address challenges linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Subjects such as Design History, Visual Communication, Business Studies and Communication Studies contextualise design to assist students to make connections between design and future contexts that they will practice and work in. As agents for change, students are encouraged to design solutions that are sustainable, ethical, socially responsible and support environmental progress.
Develop communication skills and the ability to articulate and justify your decision making. This approach supports ‘sustainable learning’ to ensure our students are ready to take on the fashion industry and a variety of contexts.
Real client briefs, job shadowing and experiential learning opportunities ensure that our students are well prepared as design practitioners to enter the industry.
The inclusion of basic research techniques, approaches, tools and methods are used for applied and academic purposes to integrate both visual and written/verbal projects, therefore equipping students for entry into postgraduate studies.
