The Project 81 initiative is designed to cultivate and showcase design thinking, providing students a dynamic platform to innovate, conceptualise, and develop products, systems, or services with real-world applications.
Through this experience, students gain valuable exposure to business practices and processes while fostering collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creativity. The journey involves a rigorous cycle of ideation and prototyping, ultimately leading to a diverse range of industry-ready products and solutions. Our industry partner then reviews these outcomes and may further refine them for potential production and implementation.

This year, Inscape, in partnership with Cell C, brings you an innovative, multidisciplinary collaborative challenge.
This year’s Project 81 challenge, titled “Nothing Should Stop You,” is presented in collaboration with Cell C. Students are tasked with designing a new branded corporate clothing range that reflects Cell C’s refreshed brand identity—bold, innovative, people-first.
Working in multidisciplinary teams, students will conceptualise a practical, stylish, and locally producible clothing line for both client-facing and non-client-facing Cell C employees. The range must be inclusive, comfortable, and relatable to all South Africans, considering fabric choices, colourways, prints, and fit for both men and women.
Though centred on branding and fashion, this brief calls for creative input from all design disciplines—ensuring the final collection captures Cell C’s dynamic spirit and broad national appeal.
