Inscape Exchange Scholarship

Inscape Scholarship Programme
The Inscape Scholarship program was established in 2014. To date, the Institute has awarded over R9 million in scholarships.
“Education is the great engine to personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine, that the child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.”
– Nelson Mandela

Inscape Scholarship Program
INSCAPE EDUCATION GROUP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Inscape Education Group is the oldest privately-owned multi-disciplinary creative arts institution in South Africa and is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training.
The Institution has been offering excellence in education by design for more than 3 decades and offers accredited degrees, diplomas and higher certificates in both the creative sector and built environment.
Inscape offers face to face learning at campuses in South Africa and Dubai and Virtual Learning through its Distance department.
Inscape continues to push the limits within education – promoting unique thinking and producing graduates who define the industry.
“There’s actually a vision that needs to see this individual through the system. We are not going to measure success on how many students we get into the program. Success is going to be measured on how many employable graduates exit the program. Inscape Education Group boasts a 93 % employment rate of its graduates. Mechanisms are in place to provide additional support of both a financial and emotional nature to assist our scholarship students to achieve the results we desire and to protect the investment we have made in these individuals. We believe the dream needs to continue and that more deserving applicants need to be assisted”.
- Helen Bührs Chief Executive Officer Inscape Education Group & Inscape Exchange NPC

“I believe that the solution to poverty, unemployment and crime is education. Access to higher education and throughput rates in South Africa continue to be a crisis in our country. Change requires problem solvers, designers and thinkers. Inscape Exchange provides a solution that results in educating the problem solvers of the future and potentially alleviating the crisis. The initiative is tried and tested, the nature of the program unique.”
- Helen Bührs Chief Executive Officer Inscape Education Group & Inscape Exchange NPC

Education changes the way we exist in the world
When corporates and individuals invest their time in sustainable solutions such as skills development, and entrepreneurial development, they increase the quality of employees they have access to and play a major role in the life development of individuals and subsequent progression of our communities and nation.
Approximately 67% of our scholarship applicants qualify for tertiary studies. 60% of the applicants are of child headed households or on family grants of approximately R1500 per month.
On acceptance into the Scholarship Program, students receive anything from a 50% to 100% scholarship for their tuition fees and equipment required for the course: Macbook/laptop, Software and licenses, Wacom tablet, textbooks, stationery, art equipment, online library subscription, Lynda.com subscription and Wifi. This at least puts everyone on the same footing from an academic resource point of view.
The scholarship program is in its fourth year since inception. Financially, the institution is able to continue funding a similar number of students each year indefinitely. BUT, this is less than 20% of the applicants who qualify to enter the program. The increase in applicants and the growing needs of the type of student being accepted into the program requires additional support structures and funding.
Inscape Exchange allows benefactors tax deductions on their investment. Inscape Exchange NPC qualifies as a Broad-Based Ownership Scheme as per the Criteria and Additional Criteria applicable to Broad Based Ownership Schemes as defined in the Codes of Good Practice. The NPC has a Level 01 status.
